Strawberry Farms Golf Course in Irvine is a venue in Orange County that has an amazing rustic barn that is perfect for weddings. In case you are looking for barn wedding, without the barn funk (i.e. dust, cobwebs, barn animals, rats, bugs, and assorted vermin) this is a perfect spot! The other great thing about this venue is that even though it’s a golf course the part of the venue that is used for weddings is very separated from the golf part. So if you’re not an avid golfer your wedding doesn’t have to look like a typical golf course wedding. Which is even more perfect if you’re not a typical couple, which is definitely the case with Quin and Nick. First off, how many Quintessas do you know? Quin is an absolute original in every sense of the word, and fun-loving free-spirited Nick makes a perfect match to her energetic spirit. They were such a great couple to work with from beginning to end, we really lucked out! Quin had initially told me they were inspired by a more natural look to things, and I think it comes off well in their details. Simple with a touch of rustic thrown in. Beautiful couple, beautiful surroundings, and perfect May weather made this wedding a memorable one!

Our first Bahia Hotel wedding in San Diego’s Mission Bay brought back a lot of memories for me. It was a new venue for us, but that particular area of Mission Bay had always been a favorite spot of mine as a kid. My mom and I came to the bay a lot when I was young, and I think we both appreciated the peaceful nature of it. The other distinct possibility is you really don’t have to worry much about being smashed by waves or dragged out to sea by a strong current. If your kid can swim, the danger factor is pretty low here. The second major memory trigger for me that day was the bride herself, who I met in the 4th grade. That’s right, the 4th grade! To further compound this story my mom was her teacher that year I met her, back in nineteen eighty… oh nevermind. It was awhile ago.

Heather was a neat kid growing up, she was one of few kids I knew who I don’t recall ever having any major conflicts with. This isn’t to say that I was often pulling out hair or doing much time in detention, but getting along with girls wasn’t always a given. Our social circles always overlapped a bit in both middle and high school, and she was someone I liked and respected. She’s smart, and has a dry sense of humor not unlike my own. She’s not my first Helix High alumni wedding, but she’s my first childhood friend wedding. It’s a bit of a surreal experience. Right before she walked down the aisle I said to her, “we’ve come a long way since the 4th grade.” Yep, life is weird like that.

In a way I feel like this wedding was sort of the homecoming experience I needed, a major full circle in my own life. And for Heather and Kevin it was everything a wedding should be- a celebration of their past lives as individuals, the path that led them together as a couple, and their future lives as partners.

The Grand Tradition Estate in Fallbrook was the backdrop for Jackie and Victor’s March wedding. If you’re looking for a tropical Hawaiian sort of feel for your Southern California wedding, the Arbor Terrace definitely has that feel to it. We usually see our fair share of people traveling in to be a part of the weddings we shoot, but rarely do we have stories like Chilean Jackie meeting Dutch Victor in Italy… and getting married in California? It was enough to make my head spin, and somehow Jackie also planned this thing in the midst of medical school. The crowd really came from all over to be with them that night, and they seemed perfectly normal until the dance floor opened up to some of Victor’s boy bands and suddenly we felt like were in the middle of an epic music video. It was definitely a wonderful and amazing day, and we were glad to be a part of it!
