Ahh the eclectic Venice Beach. Even though I am from San Diego and spent my fair share of days in Los Angeles, I had never set foot in Venice. Virtually all I knew about it comes from episodes of Hunter and TJ Hooker. While these shows can teach one a lot about life, they sadly only touched on the character of Venice. It’s like… I’m not even sure what it’s like, you just sort of have to experience it for yourself. The other thing I want to point out is that Venice actually has canals. Just like the Venice in Italy! So if you live in Southern California and were contemplating a visit to Italy to see Venice, don’t bother. We’ve got it all right here.
I suppose I should go into how Jessica and Sam found us. In August of 2010 Melissa and I traveled to Charleston, SC to photograph Lindsay and Eric’s wedding. To this day it’s one of your favorites, an all around outstanding group of people and an amazing day. So when we got an email from Eric’s cousin Jessica about doing her wedding we were thrilled. After all we sort of consider ourselves family. Okay not sort of- we actually consider ourselves family. It turns out the only thing more fun than Venice Beach is hanging out with Sam and Jessica on Venice Beach. A perfect post for our one year anniversary of being in California as photographers!
