University Club Chicago and St. Alphonsus Church Wedding, we’re unveiling our first 2011 wedding right here on our blog! Joanna & Patrick are really awesome people are we are absolutely thrilled be premiering our favorite photos from their wedding today, unprecedentedly early too… I might add.
As many of our stories begin, we first “met” Joanna & Patrick over the phone. They are friends of Natalie & Dave, one our all time favorite couples. They told us they loved their wedding album so much they needed to try to hire us for their wedding too even though we had moved all the way to Portland. Stars aligned and we were thrilled to be their chosen photographers. Luckily, they aligned for us one more time last year so we could shoot their engagement session in Lincoln Park while Joanna was in town for the weekend and we instantly connected and had a wonderful time laughing and enjoying each others company. Joanna & Patrick are warm, loving and kind people who have somehow made it through the challenges of a multi-year long distance relationship. While they met in Chicago, early into their relationship Joanna left for Atlanta for Law School. Through the past few years they’ve criss-crossed the country seeing each other whenever they could and they made it work. Now, it’s all paid off because Joanna graduated Law School the week before the wedding (busy girl!) and now calls Chicago home again with her new husband Patrick! Congratulations to you both on all of it… the commitment to each other, your careers, and to your future. I know you will have a beautiful life together!

We start with the bride getting her hair & make up applied with her bridal party and family at the University Club off of Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
Joanna’s fitted lace wedding dress from Pronovias was so elegant and her blue rosary beads with a silver cross where a classic “something blue.”
I’m a huge fan of jewel-toned bridesmaid dresses. These emerald green floor length gowns were beautiful and the girls all looks like knock-outs.
Mother of the Bride and Maids of Honor help Joanna into her amazing lace wedding gown! Emotions running high now…

St Alphonsus Catholic is breath-taking with it’s cobalt-blue cathedral ceilings, elaborate colorful paintings, and stained glass. This is the place Joanna & Patrick first met.
Bridal Party Photos at Union Station, a surprisingly bright indoor alternative. The weather outside was not cooperating. Seems we took our Portland rain with us to Chicago.
The bridesmaids all wore baby blue tear drop chalcedony necklaces with complimented their emerald green bridesmaid dresses. Their bouquets featured white roses and blue hydrangeas.
Our lovely bride accented her look with some canary yellow diamonds and carried a bouquet of mixed white flowers and a single yellow rose to honor her mother & grandmother.
Our happily wedded couple posed for some wedding pictures in Chicago’s Union Station.
The center pieces where decorated with silver tea sets filled with white roses that Joanna and her mother collected through the years.
The reception was held at Chicago’s University Club in Cathedral Hall, a super swanky venue which is adorned by stained glass windows and seals representing distinguished universities in the United States and Europe. In line with the educational theme, Joanna & Patrick chose to donate to their alma mater’s in lue of having guest favors.
