It’s funny that sometimes the closer you are to someone, the harder it is to write something about their wedding that feels like it’s really doing justice to how much just being a part of it meant to your heart. I think I purposely didn’t write much about Jasmin in her engagement session write up just because something much sappier was seemingly inevitable when the wedding happened. You see I’ve known Jasmin over 15 years. And while I may have first described her to people as the sister of a close friend of mine, I no longer say that. While her brother remains a close friend to me Jasmin is just as close. If you were to ask me now who she is to me I’d say she’s a friend who feels like my sister. She is the type of person everyone wants in their life – literally one of the kindest most loving people I’ve ever met. Jasmin is the person who takes care of others, the person who you wonder how she can have so much to give.
In a way this wedding was the answer to a question I had in my mind for years. The question is- who takes care of Jasmin? I got my answer, and the answer is TomBosley the cat. Sorry that was a joke. No the real answer to who takes care of Jasmin is Brian. Brian takes care of Jasmin. Brian is amazing. He’s a sensitive, intelligent, and ultra talented guy. For me I think I tend to have turning points when the depth of a person resonates with me and I realized that when Brian proposed to her right after her father’s memorial. Now we all knew Jasmin and Brian were getting married, Jasmin bought the dress before she got the ring. The question really was how was Brian going to propose to a girl who absolutely knew it was coming? He did it during the most difficult time of her life. It was in my eyes the ultimate show of support he could make. It was something Jasmin would do.
This wedding had a lot of memories and dedication to the late Rodney Harris, whose presence was felt throughout the day. His passing began 2013 on a sad note, but I think he’d be happy that this celebration ended the year on a joyous one. Jasmin’s dedication to his memory and helping people is illustrated deeply in the foundation she helped start in his memory for local San Diego musicians: Hot Rod Helps.
If any wedding is a reminder to me how awesome my job is, it’s this one. Thanks guys.
PS- Yes, sometimes brides do keg stands.
