Debbie and Alejandro were the first of two amazing weddings we photographed at Cafe Brauer, the timeless and elegant venue in Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo. Some of the best weddings we get to photograph are when people from different countries and cultures manage to find each other at the right moments in their lives to make a connection. Two countries, two cities, two languages, two religions, two people. When it all came together that day it was a grand celebration, and like much of what we do words don’t do justice to the stories the photographs tell.
Debbie got ready at the Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Chicago. It was amazing to be witness to her reunion with Alejandro’s sisters who had traveled from Spain to be part of the wedding.
We loved the flower on her dress from An L’Amour Bridal Shop.
Right outside of the hotel at Chicago’s Mariano Park is where we had our first look. First looks are always so much fun to capture!
After the first look we snuck over to the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool for bridal party portraits.
One of the most unique things that has ever happened to us while shooting portraits was this live butterfly getting in on the action while we were in Grandmother’s Garden in Lincoln Park.
Cafe Brauer’s northernmost loggia is a perfect spot for a Ketubah signing.
The dually officiated ceremony, translated in both English and Spanish was a seamless blend of the Jewish and Catholic traditions.
Debbie and Alejandro’s details were bold, modern, and simple. We loved the vibrant blues and deep chocolate brown.
The rest of the evening featured the Toast and Jam DJs making the party come alive on the Cafe Brauer dance floor. Thanks for letting us be a part of your day guys!
