We met Holly and David Hepburn of Your Day Films while shooting Elizabeth and Kevin’s wedding not so long ago. David had actually called ahead to introduce himself a couple of days before we met for the wedding, which is something I thought only photographers did. Ha! People often overlook the fact that wedding photographers and videographers are expected to work seamlessly together, and most are not the same company and have never worked together before. We’ve always subscribe to the idea of treating video people like we want to be treated, which is mostly trying to make a conscious effort to stay out of their shots and give them the time they need to do their thing. We got along fabulously with the Hepburns that day. It was professionalism with an added dose of instant camaraderie.
After the wedding a few days later we met up with the Hepburns at the Old Town Mexican Cafe. At first I was a little worried when Dave went against my recommendation and didn’t order the carnitas. He did however redeem himself when after trying some of Holly’s he regretted his decision. After that day we were pretty happy to have found some new friends and video pros to offer our clients as a recommendation. One of my projects I hope to finish up soon is a revamp of our vendor page, which is where the idea to get a headshot of these two came about. However as it turned out Holly freakin’ loves to be photographed so we ended up making a little couple’s portrait session out of it. If you’re looking for some genuinely happy and fun loving people to cinematize your wedding or eat carnitas with, you should definitely meet the Hepburns!
