A Sellwood wedding with an unplugged outdoor river park ceremony followed by a reception at local venue the Woods. We met Crystal when we started doing volunteer work for Women for Success. Crystal is the membership chair for the organization, and from the very beginning we’ve always really loved her. It always makes a huge difference when you are able to shoot a wedding for someone you already know. Maybe that’s why this wedding had an amazing feeling of home and familiarity surrounding it. From starting the day getting ready at their house, to the first look on the corner of their street, to the short walk to a neighborhood park for portraits. Everything was in close proximity, in Portland’s quaint Sellwood neighborhood.
This was also the first unplugged wedding ceremony Melissa and I have ever shot, and we really want to acknowledge Crystal and Micah for being on the cutting edge for adopting it. While obviously we love images and understand the desire to photograph weddings, so often we’re at events where guests are so distracted with trying to get photos or video that they miss being in the moment with the couple. Leaving the photo capturing up to the professionals allows the use of that other hand for things like holding glasses of champagne for toasts during the ceremony! Thank you Crystal and Micah for allowing us the honor of photographing your day!
