A JW Marriott & Notre Dame de Chicago Wedding, our last wedding of 2010. Now that the sun is finally shinning in Portland we figured it was safe to remind you what Christmas looked like. Just making light of the fact that we are being bad, bad bloggers. However, it’s about time we got this wedding up and under the spotlight because it really is awesome! Jessica and Nick contacted us a few days into our box unpacking from our Chicago to Portland Oregon move. A year and a half later we are experts in long distances bookings via Skype, and the phone. Our studio software now even lets us send out contracts and accept retainer payments via email. Back then however it was contracts in the mail, and luck in finding understanding clients like Jessica and Nick who looked past the distance and saw photography that fit with their personalities and style. And that’s awesome, because that’s what it’s all about! We got to meet them in person a few months later on one of our regular trips back to Chicago and Jessica and Nick struck us immediately as really classy people. Melissa tells me that Jessica channeled her inner Audrey Hepburn on her wedding day, and Nick has a very gentlemanly presence. So I’m not telling you that Jessica and Nick are old fashioned, but they are classics! The sort of genuine personalities that you would meet in an old black and white movie, only they live in the modern age with the rest of us. That sort of authenticity is rare, and it was really an awesome experience to be around them and their friends and family on their big day. We started off with the girls getting ready at the relatively new luxury hotel JW Marriott in Chicago, and from there went to the historic Notre Dame de Chicago church for their ceremony. Afterwards we took a tour of some of our favorite spots for bridal party portraits in Chicago, before finishing out the night in style at the Arrowhead Golf Club and resort. Congratulations guys, even though it’s belated!
The view from the suite of the JW Marriott in downtown Chicago had an awesome view of the Chicago Board of Trade building.
Notre Dame de Chicago.
The Chicago Mounted Police were on hand to celebrate! Christmas decorations at the Wrigley Building in downtown Chicago! How hot is it outside today?
We love the Agora Sculptures by Magdalena Abakanowicz at the southern tip of Millennium Park.
Everyone should have a favorite alleyway right? You may remember these sites from the recent West Loop portrait shoot I did with Heather. The West Loop is awesome!
Smart and sophisticated!
The Schnitzelbank Song was never one I’d heard at a wedding before, but Continuum is now throughly schooled.
