Leo Carillo Ranch Wedding | Rebecca & Devon

The Leo Carillo Ranch in Carlsbad, CA is a state run historic park that used to be the home of actor Leo Carillo. You are not expected to know who Leo Carillo is unless you are a fan of early 1950s television. The important part of this story is that Carillo’s amazing ranch hidden away in Carlsbad is a state park that you can rent for weddings- and it’s all sorts of awesome (much like Rebecca and Devon). As a wedding photographer you really should shy away from the word “favorite” in relation to a particular couple or event that you shoot. After all- all of our clients are special, and unique. Each wedding plays out in a similar fashion, but none are identical and each have a personality of their own. I must however state that something special was going on in Carlsbad that day, and the level of fun we had is going to be very hard to top. From their elegant and classy details that fit the location so well, the seamless flow of the day made possible by Meaghan from Weddings Made Splendid, the wonderful friends and family in attendance, or the hilarious addition of the inflatable instruments that rocked the night away- this wedding was just memorable.

As you scroll through the images in this post you may wonder about the lipstick mark on Rebecca’s hand. Rebecca’s mother who sadly was not with us in body – was definitely there in spirit. The kiss was a daily tradition she used to smooch on Rebecca’s hand before she was dropped off at daycare. Rebecca’s grandmother filled in for this mark of remembrance. As sad as it can be to not have a loved one there for an important day like a wedding, it’s days like this that you can truly feel their presence. I could feel it, and I never met Michelle.

Rebecca and Devon are such fun, genuine people- you just can’t help but feel comfortable around them. Both Melissa and I are extremely grateful that we now have them as friends in our lives. Such a great side effect of being a photographer. Thanks again you two for letting us be a part of such a special day.

WOW. I know I’m supposed to comment on the pictures, but I cannot get past how stunning the bride looked! Rebecca was just an amazingly beautiful bride! (And the pictures were pretty great too.) 🙂ReplyCancel

Gorgeous. Incredible compositions – especially the one of bride in the mirror, with dad, and flower girl thru the window. You should enter that one in a contest!!ReplyCancel
