Jennifer and Ryan’s La Valencia Hotel and Cuvier Park La Jolla wedding provided us with an opportunity to shoot at three great spots around La Jolla. We started first at the La Valencia Hotel, which is an amazing boutique hotel that’s been around since 1926. If you love ocean front views and Spanish inspired architecture (or the color pink), this is your haven. Since their wedding was earlier in the day one of the big concerns was the harsh noon light. Luckily the hotel’s courtyard was tailor made for even shade. Perfect first look spot! Their ceremony was at Cuvier Park, a small bluff that overlooks the ocean. It actually reminded me a lot of spot Melissa and I got married in Port Gamble, WA – minus San Diego’s own Father Joe Carroll as officiant. We also lucked out that the marine layer vacated for the ceremony. The weather was perfect. I mean really perfect. I guess that usually goes without saying here, but even a year into it I’m still pretty amazed by it. Things just continued to align. Their reception at the Azul Steakhouse just down the street was warm and intimate, and the food was spectacular. And once we left for our final portraits of the day we had some clouds, but they were awesome clouds. We really couldn’t have asked for a nicer couple, more fun group, or perfect day! Congrats guys!
