When we compare elopements to a standard wedding in literary terms we simply like to think of them as stories with fewer characters. They are no less important, and no less interesting of stories. People elope for many different reasons, but everyone wants to be able to share the love and meaning of their wedding day with those who weren’t able to attend. Our elopement coverage comes with the same energy and excitement we have for the biggest and fanciest of events. Maybe it’s just the two of you or a couple of your close friends as witnesses, but no matter what your day is special and we want to tell that story!
We were so happy that Josh and Melissa were part of our wedding day & that we chose them for one of the most important parts. They are professional & extremely talented at what they do. They are also very fun to be around & they work great together! -Jenelle & Kambiz
How much is elopement wedding coverage?
Elopements begin at $900. Available Monday-Thursday only [with rare exception], 15 guests or less.
What’s the difference between an elopement and a wedding?
Technically if you are eloping you are running off in secrecy to get married. Of course since you have to tell us in order to get us to photograph it the secret will be out just a little. We define elopements as just the couple and up to two other people who act as witnesses or a small intimate gathering with 15 guests or less.
Why is your elopement coverage only available Monday through Thursday?
We designed our elopement packages specifically with the civil ceremony in mind. They are typically held during weekday business hours at the San Diego County Administration building. Your elopement doesn’t have to be in a courthouse for us to photograph it but due to the highly discounted rate these packages are only available during the week. If you were having a small wedding or an elopement on a weekend then you would be subject to our standard wedding rates. Sometimes there are exceptions to this rule so it doesn’t hurt to contact us and give us more information about your plans.
How do we book you? What’s the whole process like?
First we need to meet you. For the super busy folks, or those not located in San Diego we love Facetime, Skype, or Facebook video calls. If you have a decently fast internet connection and a webcam that isn’t from the late 90s this method works well. If you’re in San Diego you can always meet us in person at our international world headquarters. As a last resort we can also chat on the phone, but this is our least preferred method of insuring we are all a good fit. When you’re ready to book us we create a package for you that fits you best. Then we send you over an online booking link that contains a contract and an option to pay the retainer ($300 to hold the date) either by check or credit card. The balance is due 30 days before the event. You can upgrade your package or add additional services at any time.
How to I plan a civil ceremony in San Diego at the courthouse?
Marriage ceremonies can be performed during regular business hours, by appointment only at the downtown San Diego County Administration Center [and a few other city offices]. The downtown location offers ceremonies performed outside on the building’s lawn overlooking the scenic San Diego Bay in addition to indoor rooms. Visit this page for more information on fees & making an appointment for your ceremony. They allow photographers to photograph the whole event, which is pretty awesome!
Can you help me find a location & officiant for my elopement if I don’t want to get married at the courthouse?
Absolutely! We can give you suggestions on locations, recommend local officiants and point you in the right direction for other logistics regarding your event. Send us a message and we’ll do our best to help you plan the best day ever!
