My favorite place for portraits in Chicago is without a doubt the West Loop. Even more specifically is a special alleyway that I keep finding myself going back to over and over again. You may remember Heather from her St. Charles wedding we recently posted on Continuum Weddings, but if not she’s one of our most photogenic brides. While I usually try and stay away from making statements like so and so is one of my favorite clients, I have to break that rule by saying Heather is without a doubt one of my favorites. She used to be a producer for a news channel in the Quad-cities area, and worked a vampire shift that coordinated very well with my own night owl tendencies. We became internet chat buddies many weeks before her wedding, and we got to know each other very well. Since the wedding Heather’s finally off graveyards, but we still keep each other company on an almost daily basis while glued to our computer screens. We’d been talking about doing an outdoor portrait session for some time, and on our last trip back we managed to make our schedules align on a day that in typical Chicago fashion was threatening thunderstorms. Ironically since moving in to the city, Heather and Nick now live mere steps from our old Chicago Loft. While I love Portland, I’m bummed that I missed out on such great neighbors! Anyways it was a blast to photograph Heather again, and hang out with her in my old neighborhood. She’s a great subject to photograph, and I feel so lucky to be able to say that she’s not just one of my favorite clients, but one of my favorite friends.
