We get a lot of inquiries for engagement sessions, but my eyes perked up (if that’s even possible) when I continued reading the details of Chris’ first email to us where he wrote about his plans to surprise his girlfriend Danielle with an impromptu photo session after he proposed to her. That’s a pretty bold move, after all with any proposal there is the danger of not getting the answer you were looking for – only there usually isn’t a photographer there documenting it. Engagement stories are always something I’ve been very into, probably due to the elaborate measures I took when I proposed to Melissa (it involved rigging a raffle at a company Christmas party – just ask me if you require further details). Chris and Danielle were going to be in town vacationing from the east coast and Chris planned to propose on a great stretch of beach in front of the Hotel Del Coronado. This was the sort of high adventure we live for. As the great life teacher and oracle Hannibal of the A-Team once said, “I love it when a plan comes together.”
And plan we did. A good two weeks of planning went into this. There are a lot of variables when it comes to leading someone to a specific spot on a specific day at a specific time without them knowing about it. And since we had never met in person – there was an added element of difficulty to it. As Melissa and I sat posing as beach people waiting for this all to unfold I finally knew what it felt like to be on a real stake out. So without getting even wordier than I’ve already been about this event, Danielle said yes. She was also an awesome sport about being covertly photographed and put on the spot to do a mini engagement session. This was a high level of excitement packed into a short timespan, and we are ready to do it again!
