Harbor Island Engagement Party | Kate & Karim

You may remember Kate & Karim from their rain-threatened engagement session that turned into a fiery golden romantic sunset at the end. They were in town from their home in London to celebrate their engagement with their friends and family on the west coast. Harbor Island Drive Park has one of the most scenic views of the San Diego city Skyline (I actually prefer it to Coronado because you can see the bridge too), and it’s a perfect setting for your intimate elegant taco fueled engagement party. And by tacos I mean El Indio catered the event – proof that Kate and Karim are mastermind geniuses.

Christine Ong from LavishWed helped make it extra pretty.

Gorgeous first scene shot and lovely wedding as a whole!

Presidio Park Engagement Session | Heather & Jeremy

San Diego is a relatively new city, so when it comes to finding areas of the town that have an old world feel to them that aren’t the default Balboa Park – sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle. Presidio Park is an area that often gets overlooked, but I’ve always loved that on any given day it’s largely deserted. You have the Spanish architecture of the mission – and the beautiful landscaping of the park. Lots of eucalyptus trees and even a hidden succulent and cacti forest. It’s a pretty cool place, and perfectly fitting for our cool clients Heather and Jeremy who made a day trip down from the LA area.

Lovely pictures – love the shoe shot and the silouette shot – great work and imaginative!

New York City Engagement Session | Rachita & Avi

Things work out. This became my mantra for this trip to New York City. Anytime I fly out to a wedding or session in a different state I always book things with an extra day… just in case. The just in case got put to the test with New York’s unpredictable winter weather dumping snow that caused me to miss a connection and get stuck one night in the dirty south on the way in (and the way out – but hey the ATL airport is nicer than La Guardia and had a Bojangles). Despite the delays I still managed to make it in to New York in time to spend the day with Rachita and Avi on a day that was just – cold. One of the best things of having lived in Chicago is that you get used to the ultra frigid. All of my San Diego nay-sayers who predicted my hypothermic demise were thwarted. I did just fine in my ridiculous feather North Face jacket. Poor Rachita nearly lost some toes to frost bite, but things worked out. And I am even more excited to be back in May to photograph this wedding – hopefully it will be just a tad bit warmer.

La Jolla Engagement Photos | Kate & Karim

Weather is never much of an issue in the San Diego area, but sometimes you just have to get lucky with it because you don’t have any other choice. Kate and Karim were in town from London so postponing their session wasn’t really an option. Instead we had to rely on the unpredictable nature of Mitchell luck to give us a window in the rain long enough to document some hot romance in La Jolla. It was looking doubtful on our drive up as we were speeding traveling up the 5 at the legal speed limit through one cloud burst after another. Once again the rainspotting app proved accurate. Not only did we get some rain free time, but we got a pretty epic sunset out of it. And by epic I mean they lit the sky on fire with their love.
