North Park Engagement Session | Krysta & Bryan

We met up with Krysta and Bryan to explore a couple of spots I’d seen awhile back that I knew I wanted to utilize for a portrait session. They actually turned out to be more bad ass than I remembered – I mean those orange flowers were definitely an unexpected bonus. San Diego’s funny, you never really know what is going to bloom up out of nowhere. After we got our nature on, we headed into North Park – which is by far my most favorite parts of San Diego to shoot. Just love the murals, walls, and general urban feeling of it all. Can’t wait to see these guys in just a few short days for the wedding!

A Balboa Park Engagement | Melissa and John

Clouds that wanted to be dramatic – a heart shaped balloon that didn’t like the idea of floating – a sprinkle of rain when supposedly there was 0% chance of precipitation. None of these factors put a damper on Melissa and John’s makeout engagement session in Balboa Park. It was almost as if these two had a great time or something…

Point Loma Wedding | Ashley & Carlos

Ashley and Carlos’ wedding brought us back to Point Loma – which is one of my favorite areas of San Diego. The NTC North Chapel in Liberty Station was our ceremony site, followed up with a reception at the Admiral Kidd Club (got to love that view of the city). My sentiment for the Point Loma neighborhood probably comes from the number of scenes from Top Gun that were shot in the area, and not so much that actual legitimate military surrounding it. Carlos is also a Marine and not a Navy guy so I’m not exactly sure where I’m going with this whole thing other than to say I think Point Loma is a pretty cool spot to get married. We had an awesome time that day hanging out with Ashley, Carlos, and their whole crew.

William D. Evans Sternwheeler Wedding | Christin & Russ

Professor, what’s another word for pirate treasure? Yep. It’s booty. Christin and Russ had a non-pirate themed wedding on the Bahia Resort Hotel’s William D. Evans Sternwheeler paddle boat – the bridal party brought the booty. In fact it all started off like a normal wedding, and I knew we were going to have fun – I mean Christin and Russ like to smile and have a good time. Maybe I should have had an inkling that it was going to be a memorable day when the bridesmaids starting doing shots of 5 Hour Energy before the ceremony. Christin and her ladies sure looked bootiful beautiful that day. Like most weddings emotions ran high at times – and then the bridal party would do something crazy and laughter ensued. It was an amazing blend of love and hilarity. Their dedication to each other (illustrated deeply by Russ missing the Arizona game to actually get married that day), the personalities of their friends and family, gorgeous San Diego weather, and the fact that they were on a boat made this wedding one that’s going to be a tough one to beat for 2013. And it’s not actually a competition people – but on the off chance that some of our more competitive couples are reading this – they had bagpipes. Bagpipes on a boat. And they have nice butts.

Game on.
